Exciting heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz is back in action this Saturday night, when he faces former world title challenger Christian Hammer in a 10-round contest at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In the main event, Ortiz’s countryman and former world champion Erislandy Lara will collide with WBA “regular” junior middleweight champion Brian Castano.
Ortiz is hoping to position himself for another world title shot in the coming months.
Ortiz wants a rematch of his March 2018 clash with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
That bout saw Ortiz badly hurt Wilder in the seventh round. The champion recovered and knocked out Ortiz in the tenth.
Wilder is back in the ring on May 18th. No opponent has been finalized, with Dominic Breazeale being the frontrunner to land the bout.
Hammer is usually a very durable fighter, but Ortiz aims to knock him out.
On Sunday, the premiere episode of PBC Fight Camp: Ortiz–Wilder II was seen by 2,247,000 viewers on FOX, according to Nielsen Media Research. Those numbers make it the most-watched PBC Fight Camp to date.
The heavyweight edition of the show produced a record rating for the Fight Camp series, boasting a 31% improvement from the previous 4th episode of Spence vs. Porter PBC Fight Camp, which drew 1.71 million viewers six days before fight night back in September.
Build up to this fight is key for the upcoming bout scheduled to take place on pay-per-view on Saturday, November 23rd Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. FOX, as they have done for the prior pay-per-view with Errol Spence vs Shawn Poter, has cross-promoted the fight over the other sports that they have broadcast rights to.
